LEPROUS Malina
Hot'Malina' is the fifth studio album from Norwegian prog rockers Leprous and it represents a slight change in direction musically comparred to their previous releases. The change is not too dramatic but I guss you can say the the song structures somehow appears to be simpler even though the music is still relatively complex if you see what I mean. 'Malina' is poppier than it's predecessors, more radio friendly if you like, but at the same time I find it sounding a bit flat and sterile, and I also feel that it lack a bit of variation. Don't get me wrong here, 'Malina' is by no means a poor album and I'm sure die hard fans of the band will be pleased with what they hear even though it doesn't quite hit my musical nerve. Leprous consist of a bunch of very gifted musicans, no doubt about that and in small portions I find myself enjoying the material, but listening to the album from start to end simply becomes too much of the same to me.
