PATHOLOGY The Everlasting Plague

Over the past couple of decades, extreme metal has splintered into a dense thicket of subgenres, and even seasoned listeners can struggle to pin down where certain bands belong. Pathology, however, has long been rooted firmly in the brutal end of the death metal spectrum, more precisely, the slamming brutal death metal niche. Yet their last few releases have hinted at a shift, and The Everlasting Plague makes that evolution more apparent than ever.

The band still deals in uncompromising brutality, but the songwriting has taken on a noticeably more technical edge. The arrangements feel sharper, the production cleaner and more detailed, and the mix incorporates modern death‑metal elements and effects that broaden the sonic palette. Even the vocals sit slightly more forward, making it, at least occasionally, possible to decipher the lyrics without superhuman effort.

Longtime fans will likely be split on this direction, but the refinement suits Pathology. The material on The Everlasting Plague is consistently strong, and ultimately that’s what counts. For listeners seeking brutal death metal delivered with precision, clarity, and a contemporary twist, this album may be exactly what they’ve been waiting for.
