SORCERER Lamenting Of The Innocent
HotSwedish epic doom/heavy metal band Sorcerer released an excellent album entitled The Crowning Of The King back in 2017, and now they are finally back with a brand new album. Sorcerer were formed as long back as 1988 and released a couple of demos in the late 80’s/early 90’s before they disappeared from the limelight, and was put to rest until 2015 when they finally released their debut album. Their style is often being described as epic doom metal, but there are certainly elements of more traditional 80’s heavy metal in their music as well. I once heard them described as a perfect mixture of Candlemass and Black Sabbath (think Black Sabbath in the Dio, Ray Gillen, Tony Martin years), and I honestly couldn’t agree more. There are basically two things that makes Sorcerer stand out from the masses; Great musicianship and their ability to write excellent songs. I must also give huge credit to the outstanding vocal performance on this album, delivered by Anders Engberg. The album consists of 10 tracks including and intro, and there is not a single weak moment in sight. So if you’re into well arranged, epic and atmospheric doom metal/heavy metal with a powerful and updated production you definitely don’t want to miss out on Lamenting The Innocent. Awesome Stuff.
