CAUSTIC Inner Deflagration

Spanish Caustic is, admittedly, a name that had slipped past me until now, despite a career reaching back to the early nineties. What they deliver on Inner Deflagration is unapologetically classic death metal: blasting drums, thick, heavy riffing, and some surprisingly tasteful lead guitar work woven throughout. The vocals sit in that medium‑low growl register, gritty enough to bite, yet clear enough to complement the band’s muscular sound.

One of the album’s real strengths is the band’s command of dynamics. They shift effortlessly from high‑velocity assaults into slower, groovier passages packed with chunky, head‑nodding weight. Those contrasts give the record a welcome sense of movement and keep each track feeling distinct.

Across its ten songs and roughly 35‑minute runtime, Inner Deflagration maintains a remarkably consistent level of quality. The production is powerful and punchy, giving the riffs plenty of room to hit with full force. It’s an album I can easily recommend to fans of classic death metal, and I suspect it will resonate with listeners who lean toward the more brutal end of the spectrum as well.
