DESERTED FEAR Veins Of Fire
HotVeins of Fire marks the sixth full-length release from German death metal outfit Deserted Fear. While the band’s early work leaned heavily on traditional death metal foundations, their more recent albums have gradually embraced a melodic death metal direction. This evolution continues here, with a sound that is distinctly guitardriven, packed with thick, groovy riffs and elevated by well-crafted harmonies that clearly draw inspiration from the earlytomid ’90s Gothenburg scene.
One of Deserted Fear’s defining strengths, and something that sets them apart from many contemporary melodic death metal acts, is the vocal approach. Instead of the higher-pitched screams that often dominate the genre, the band opts for a deeper, more cavernous growl that adds weight and character to the songs.
The material across Veins of Fire is consistently strong, and although longtime fans might be divided on the continued shift toward a more melodic style, the band executes this progression with conviction and confidence. When done this well, it feels less like a departure and more like a natural refinement of their identity.
The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Fabian Hildebrandt at Eisensound Studio in Jena, Germany, ensuring a clear, powerful production that complements the band’s sound.
