EXOCRINE Molten Giant

I first got aware of this French band when I heard the 'Ascension' album which was released through Great Dane Records last year. I've played that album alot and have really been looking forward to the next chapter in their carreer. Now it's finally here with official release date set to August 18th. Since last time Exocrine have moved from Great Dane Records to Unique Leader Records, a label that is normally synonymous with quality. 'Molten Giant' is a concept album about a nuclear war between a gigantic lava monster and the surviving human beings, and right away you can hear that everything has been taken a step forward since the last album. The song material is amazing with a great balance between massive brutality, technical finesse, great harmonies and atmosphere, and not to forget the excellent production that makes this a product you just want to play over and over again. Despite all the brutality and intricate arrangements Exocrine never looses focus on melody, and that is actually the one thing that really makes this album stand out from the enormous amount of releases within this genre these days. 'Molten Giant' is certainly one of the best technical death metal albums I've heard in a long time.....and I've heard quite a few! Brilliant!
