INANIMATE EXISTENCE Calling From A Dream
HotThird full length album from Bay Area progressive death metal band Inanimate Existence, entitled ‘Calling from a dream’ is a conceptual story of a young man’s journey to reunite with the soul of his lost lover. Through his dreams, she guide’s him across a dark mysterious world filled with gods and demons. So much for the lyrical concept, let’s focus on the music. With ‘Calling from a dream’ the band has definitely moved in a new musical direction with more versatile composing and of course the addition of Adrianna Tentori’s female vocals which adds a sharp contrast to the death grunts. ‘Liberation through hearing’ sorted among the most frequently played albums at my home around its release. The successor ‘Never ending cycle of atonement’ was a good album as well, even though I felt it lacked the x-factor of the debut. ‘Calling from a dream’ has a bit of the same atmosphere that I loved with their debut but with arrangements and structures taken to the next level. The music is technically complex and progressive but yet incredible melodic and atmospheric, most important of all though is the great quality of the song material which really comes alive in this crystal clear but yet organic production.
