SUBNUBA Distant Pixels
Hot
I wasn't able to find much information on Subnuba online, so bare with me if i miss out on some facts here. But as far as i understand these guys are hailing from the US, or to be more specific Toledo, Ohio, and 'Distant Pixels' is their debut album. Their style can be described as a mixture of technical death metal and progressive metal, where the instrumental parts is just as much progressive metal as death metal while the deep growling vocal style gives it that death metal feel. Anyway, 'Distant Pixels' is a very consistent product with rock solid production, great songs and ditto great musicianship. Even though the music is complex Subnuba manage to keep focus on both melody and atmosphere throughout the album. It consist of 9 relatively shorts songs with a total runtime of approximately half an hour which is a bit too short for a full length album, but on the other hand all songs are of consistent quality without any fillers og week spots. I can therefore highly recommend 'Distant Pixels' to fans of technical death metal, but it has a lot to offer to fans of traditional progressive metal as well as long as you can deal with growling vocals.
