SULPHUR AEON The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos

Sulphur Aeon is definitely one of the more exciting names within the death metal genre these days, with two excellent releases in the baggage, and now the german force strikes again with their third studio album entitled 'The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos'. The majority of the material is mid tempo stuff with a beautiful dark and epic atmosphere, but the album also include some more uptempo parts. On the vocal side deep death metal grunts is the more dominant style, but there are also some clean vocals to be heard every now and then. The music is actially quite straight forward death metal and it's not too technical either, so what makes Sulphur Aeon stand out from the masses is of course their ability to write good songs, but the success formula lies just as much in the arrangements and the unique dark atmosphere that surrounds the album. The fact that the music is more mid-tempo oriented and quite melodic will probably make 'The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos' accessible to a larger audiense, but it's of course still death metal...no doubt about that. 'The Scythe Of Cosmic Chaos' certainly belongs among the absolute higlights of 2018 so make sure to check it out if you haven't already done so.
