THE DEVILS OF LOUDUN Escaping Eternity

The Devils Of Loudun is a symphonic/melodic death metal band heading from Seattle, Washington and while having released a couple of EP’s a few years ago Escaping Eternity is their debut full length album.  The line-up features a couple of members from tech death outfit Aethereus. The Devils Of Louduns sound is also technical, but with a lot more focus on being melodic with a symphonic and almost classical approach. The interaction between orchestration/keyboards and guitars in creating beautiful melody lines and harmonies is simply stunning, but it’s of course kept within a no compromising framework of punching death metal. Unlike many other bands in the more melodic end of the death metal genre these guys are not messing with clean vocals, and kudos to them for that. The vocals mainly operate in low growling specter, with occasional additions of slightly higher pitched but never too screaming variants. Escaping Eternity consists of ten premium quality and thoughtfully arranged tracks that comes wrapped in by a powerful, but yet clear and open production allowing details to shine through. If you like death metal mixed with symphonic/classical elements I would definitely recommend checking out this one. Escaping Eternity is constantly spinning on repeat on my system at the moment, and I’m sure it will continue to do so for a while. A stunning release.
