ANCIENT CURSE has released a new official video for the song "The New Prophecy". That song is on the new album "The New Prophecy", which was released on May 29th, 2020 via PURE STEEL RECORDS on CD and Doublevinyl. The Album is also available as Download.
ANCIENT CURSE are neither an ordinary Power Metal formation nor a Prog Metal band. Founded in 1985, they are also not a typical band of the eighties because their storm and stress phase emerged in the mid-1990s with one mini and two full-length albums.
Two and a half decades ago they played in this line-up: singer / guitarist Pepe Pierez (ex-Sons of Seasons), guitarist Gunnar Erxleben (ex-Riot Instinct), bassist Thorsten Penz (G.L.A.S.S.) and drummer Matthias Schröder. With their comeback "The New Prophecy" in 2020, the band from Bremen show all their steel power and played in nine new songs in which Power Metal is touched by Teutonic Speed Metal and even a little bit in direction of Thrash Metal. The overall sound proliferates with a considerable variety, which can be called progressive, but also simply imaginative. ANCIENT CURSE have found a unique style.

Ancient Curse – the band from the north brought heavy metal to the Caribbean a quarter of a century ago. Now the quartet from Bremen presents their new album "The New Prophecy". The album will be released before mid 2020: It's gonna be a blast!
The record deal with Pure Steel Records is perfect! A record release party will be celebrated in Bremen in June. A video clip of the album song "We follow the Signs" in majestic-morbid ambience is in preparation. A lyric video for the song "The Shadow" is already on YouTube. Numerous live performances will follow.
After a reunion in 2013, many concerts, intensive songwriting and studio work, Ancient Curse are now very excited about the response to "The New Prophecy". With this new epic work, Ancient Curse want to continue their biggest success so far: In the mid-1990s, the "Cuban Town Musicians" (quote "Deaf Forever" 2/2020) landed a number one hit in Cuba with the song "Plastic Tears" and toured the sugar cane island as state guests and the first western band after the Beatles. The tour under palm trees was a mega success: "The fans went completely crazy every evening", remember the band members. The song "Plastic Tears" from the "The Landing" album topped the radio rock charts of the "Metallic Avalanche" show for weeks.
In the successful line-up of the 90s, Ancient Curse have now recorded "The New Prophecy" with nine songs and a total duration of a good hour. There is a wide range of sophisticated music to be heard, from thrash attacks to power ballads. The pure Progressive Power Metal is the central theme of the album. The name Ancient Curse stands for razor-sharp riffs, melancholic acoustic interludes, expressive dynamic vocals and complex arrangements, developed through many years of interaction.
The professional standard also applies to the live performance: whether as headliner or support (Rough Silk, Tankard and many more), Ancient Curse have always managed to get the audience on their side with their energetic live show. Also nationally various awards - among others Radio FFN "Local Heroes" and finalist at the Bundesrockfestival - confirm the high musical quality.
During the artistic break in the 2000s, the four musicians of Ancient Curse kept the hot wire to the scene. Pepe Pierez (vocals, guitar) played with Sons of Seasons (Symphonic Metal), Gunnar Erxleben (guitar) with Riot Instinct (US-Thrash), Matthias Schröder (drums) in various formations of different styles, and Thorsten Penz is bassist with G.L.A.S.S. (Symphonic Hardrock).
