The Finnish melodic death metal band Lights To Remain are set to release their second album 'Shattered Reality' later in 2027 via Inverse Records. The first single and music video 'Into the Unknown' can be seen below:
Guitarist Eero Kouvo comments:
“Into the Unknown was the first song written by Lights to Remain’s current lineup, so it felt like the natural choice for our first single. It also captures the more melodic side of the album.
The song is about sharing a journey through life with an animal companion. Adopting a rescue animal is a leap into the unknown, but it can also be the beginning of a lifelong bond built on trust, companionship and love.
The music video for “Into the Unknown” was created in collaboration with a local animal shelter Eläinsuojelukeskus Miu, run by Kaakkois-Suomen eläinsuojeluyhdistys ry. Every member of Lights to Remain has pets at home, so supporting animal welfare and giving visibility to the important work done by animal rescue organizations was something we genuinely wanted to be part of. Every animal deserves a loving home.”
BIOGRAPHY:
Lights to Remain brings together the best elements of ’90s melodic death metal and blends them with 2000s metalcore. Their music combines melodic guitar work with rapidly shifting rhythms and powerful, anthemic choruses, creating a sound that is both dynamic and fiercely melodic.
In early 2027, the band will release their new album, Shattered Reality, which explores the struggles we face both within ourselves and in the world around us, as well as the complexities of human and animal relationships. The music video for “Into the Unknown” was created in collaboration with a local animal shelter Eläinsuojelukeskus Miu, highlighting the importance of animal welfare and the work of animal rescue organisations.
Lights to Remain performed at the KVLT Stage at Tuska in summer 2025, and their music has also received airplay on Finnish radio station Radio Rock. Known for their energetic live shows, the band delivers an experience that is impossible to ignore. As the mosh pit erupts and the crowd roars along, the energy in the room becomes almost tangible.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO
Lights to Remain is a Finnish melodic death metal band formed in 2022 in Lappeenranta, South Karelia. Combining the melodic guitar traditions of 1990s Scandinavian death metal with the aggression and modern influences of 2000s metalcore, the band has developed a sound characterized by heavy riffs, intricate melodies, dynamic rhythms, powerful vocals, and memorable choruses.
The band was founded by musicians with previous experience in the Finnish metal scene, including members formerly associated with Soul of Eternity. Guitarists Eero Kouvo and Jani Jäppinen, alongside drummer Santeri Tiainen, have remained central figures throughout the band's development.
Lights to Remain released their debut EP, *Rebirth*, on September 8, 2023. Featuring five tracks, the recording introduced their combination of aggressive melodic death metal, technical guitar work, and contrasting harsh and clean vocals.
Their debut full-length album, *Damnation*, followed on December 20, 2024. Featuring eleven tracks, the album expanded the band's musical identity through crushing guitar riffs, melodic passages, powerful vocal performances, and atmospheric arrangements. The recording also featured guest contributions from Anthony Hodju of Agarwaen and producer and musician Valtteri Backman.
The band continued building its reputation through live performances, including an appearance on the KVLT Stage at Finland's Tuska Festival in the summer of 2025. Their music has also received airplay on Finnish radio station Radio Rock.
Following several lineup changes, Lights to Remain entered a new chapter with vocalist Lauri Tiainen and bassist Sirja Ojaniemi joining the established instrumental core of Eero Kouvo, Jani Jäppinen, and Santeri Tiainen.
On October 20, 2026, the band released the single *Into the Unknown*, accompanied by a music video created in collaboration with a Finnish animal rescue organization. The song introduced the band's forthcoming second full-length album, *Shattered Reality*, scheduled for release in 2027 through Inverse Records.
With their combination of melodic intensity, modern heaviness, and emotionally driven songwriting, Lights to Remain continue to establish themselves as part of Finland's contemporary melodic death metal scene.
