Tasmanian devils THE ABSOLUTION SEQUENCE have posted the video for "Idols of Confraternity," the second single off the band's highly-anticipated full-length album, Dread Cycle.
"'Idols of Confraternity' is focused on our innate ability in putting horrible people on a pedestal," says vocalist Shawn Wells. "These being celebrities, politicians, influencers and leaders of faith. We worship them as deities, follow their trends, watch their every move in the hope that we may find some form of familiarity. All to crumble in the wake of our self-proclaimed 'unique' display of infatuation."

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

The Absolution Sequence is an Australian technical death metal band formed in Hobart, Tasmania in 2013. Emerging from the underground extreme metal scene, the band quickly gained attention for blending crushing groove-driven riffs with technical precision, atmospheric passages, and aggressive modern death metal intensity. Their sound combines elements of technical death metal, groove metal, deathcore, and progressive metal, creating a style that is both heavy and dynamic.
Since their formation, The Absolution Sequence have steadily built a reputation through a series of independently released EPs and singles, showcasing a clear musical evolution from raw groove-oriented extremity toward a darker and more refined technical approach. Releases such as Subsidence, Silent King, and Voidform helped establish the band’s identity with complex songwriting, punishing rhythms, and emotionally charged themes centered around psychological struggle, isolation, existential decay, and inner conflict.
Known for intense live performances and a powerful modern production style, the band has become a respected name within the Australian extreme metal underground. Their music balances brutality with atmosphere, incorporating dissonant textures, crushing breakdowns, and intricate guitar work while maintaining a strong sense of melody and mood.
With each release, The Absolution Sequence continue to push their sound further, cementing their place among the newer generation of Australian extreme metal acts.
