Endbringer marks the full‑length debut of Swedish melodic death metal outfit Abandon Agony, though attentive listeners will recognize four of its tracks from the earlier Dark Matter EP. True to their national lineage, the band leans heavily into the melodic death metal blueprint forged in Gothenburg more than three decades ago. Echoes of early In Flames and Dark Tranquillity run throughout the record, yet Abandon Agony approach the style...

Someone Is Dying is an album I stumbled upon by chance, but it quickly proved itself to be a discovery worth celebrating. Information about Leprosarium is scarce; beyond their Colombian origins and the fact that this release is independent, the band remains something of a mystery. As such, it’s unclear whether this marks their debut or if there are earlier recordings in their catalog. Musically, Leprosarium...

Eternal Delyria is a new discovery for me, though the band has been active since 2011. Formed in Ticino, Switzerland, they previously released one EP and one full‑length album before unveiling Paradox of the Mechanical Angel. While the foundation of their sound is firmly rooted in melodic death metal, the band incorporates elements from several other genres, giving the album a broader and more textured identity. ...

It’s no secret that I’ve been a big fan of Aeternam since the release of their debut album ‘Disciples Of The Unseen’ back in 2010, and I still consider the ‘Moongod’ album among my favorite death metal albums of the last two decades. Their third album ‘Ruins Of Empire’ was a worthy follow up to ‘Moongod’ as well, so these guys have never released anything but pure quality. Therefore...

It’s been two years since ‘Reclaimer’, the last full length album from Conneticut/Rhode Island based Shadow Of Intent saw the light of day, but now the wait is finally over as they return with their highly anticipated successor entitled ‘Melancholy’. ‘Reclaimer’ was an excellent album, probably one of the most played at my home over the last couple of years actually, but with ‘Melancholy’ they have really raised the...

Crafting The Conspiracy is a new acquaintance to me, heading from Odessa, Texas and they promote themselves as a melodic death metal band. I would probably rather file them as deathcore, but of course with elements of both melodic- and more brutal death metal. ‘The Cosmic Key, pt. 1’ is a six track EP with a total runtime of just above 26 minutes. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I...

I wasn't able to find much information on Subnuba online, so bare with me if i miss out on some facts here. But as far as i understand these guys are hailing from the US, or to be more specific Toledo, Ohio, and 'Distant Pixels' is their debut album. Their style can be described as a mixture of technical death metal and progressive metal, where the instrumental parts is...

'Worldender' is the debut EP from Graverealm, a one man project from American artist Barret Gingerich. The material on this 18 minutes long EP lies in the borderline between tehcnical death metal and deathcore, so I guess technical deathcore would be a fair description. The album opener is a short instrumental followed by five relatively short tracks of premium quality death metal/deathcore, perhaps not very original but it works....

I stumbled over The Artifice Precept more or less by accident, and there's not much information to be found about this band around the internet either. But as far as I understand they are heading form US and 'Premonition' is their debut album, or it's probably more correct to say EP since it's seven tracks in total clocks in on around 25 minutes. Don't let that scare you from...

During the past couple of decads Norway has become a force to count on when it comes to progressive metal with several bands of international standard. Trondheim based Divided Multitude definitely sort among those, now celebrating their 20th anniversary with the release of their fifth, self-titled, studioalbum. I really liked their 2013 album 'Feed On Your Misery', and the new one pretty much continues in the same path as...
