ALLEN - LANDE The Great Divide

While the first three Allen/Lande albums were written by Swedish guitarist and songwriter Magnus Karlsson, this new one features the song writing talent of ex-Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki who has also produced the album as well as playing all guitars, bass and keyboards on it. Musically Allen/Lande is still wandering in more or less the same landscape as on their previous albums but still I feel it sounds fresher and more vital than before. The song material is melodic and catchy and fits the vocal style of the two extremely gifted gentlemen really well. Lande and Allen is still a really good match vocally as their voices really compliment each other. At times it´s actually a bit tricky to tell who of them is singing, but then again there are differences in range and expression that fits perfectly together. Fans of Allen/Lande wont be disappointed this time either, and I´m sure fans of Timo Tolkki´s song writing talent will appreciate this album as well. As I´ve already mentioned the song material is really strong, but if I have to pick one favorite track it would probably be ´Lady of winter´.
