AMORPHIS Queen Of Time

Through a carreer spanning over nearly 30 years Amorphis has always been more or less synonymous with quality, but with their 13th studio album entitled 'Queen Of Time' our neighbours from east introduces us to a masterpiece that has exceeded all my expectations and to my ears it's by far their best album to date. The opening track 'The Bee' is simply an amazing composition that immediately sets the standard for whats to come. Beautifully arranged with deep growling vocals in the verses and a wonderful melodic chorus with clean vocals. The rest of the material follows in the same path without a single weak moment in sight. On this new album Amporphis has moved towards a more progressive landscape with more complex time signatures and arrangements, but without loosing connection with their roots and both the brutal and melodic elements they've always been known for are still very present in the sound. 'Queen Of Time' is also blessed with an excellent Jens Bogren production, and the Swedish mastermind producer has been very involved in the arrangements as well. We're not even half way into 2018 yet, but still I feel that this might very well be THE album of the year....or at least a very serious contender to the throne.
