BLAZON STONE Down In The Dark Hothttps://arcticmetal.no/media/reviews/photos/thumbnail/300x300s/02/54/2c/blazon-stone-cover-4-1508747934.jpg
This Swedish power metal/pirate metal band was formed in 2011 and have proved to be quite productive with three full length album releases previous to this new one. The band name Blazon Stone was taken from Running Wild’s 1991 album and that should give you more than a fair hint of what to expect if you don’t already know this band. Though my musical preferences have turned more and more towards the more extreme side of the metal genre I can still appreciate a good melodic power metal album every now and then, and ‘Down in the dark’ absolutely an enjoyable creation. Twelve catchy and singalong friendly songs with good vocals and some really nice guitarwork never sound wrong to me. ‘Into Victory’ stands out as my favorite track on the album with nice vocal phrasings in the verses and it’s early Rhapsody like, epic chorus, but the rest of the songs are all solid quality as well. I must admit that I haven’t heard any of the three previous Blazon Stone albums, but after having heard ‘Down in the dark’ I will probably check them all out some day.
