BLOOD RED THRONE Imperial Congregation
HotIt’s time for a dose of Norwegian death metal again, as Blood Red Throne returns with their 10th full length album Imperial Congregation which is being released through Nuclear Blast Records. Although they stay true to their old school death metal sound that they’ve been well known for over the years, there is basically three things that makes the new album stand out to me; First of all the production is excellent and way better than on earlier albums, secondly the material is groovier, more melodic and more varied than before and last but not least comes the vocals that are deeper and more guttural than before and that suits the music just perfect. Yes, there are still some screaming vocals to be heard every now and then, but fortunately it has been kept on a minimum this time. The song material on Imperial Congregation is in my opinion the bands strongest to date with a consistency from start to end with no room for any filler-tracks. There’s also a lot of really fine guitar work to be heard on this album, both when it comes to riffs and the great melodic harmony and lead parts. A great shoutout goes to Yngve “Bolt” Christiansen for the amazing guttural vocals…..more of this in the future, please!. Imperial Congregation is to my ears by far the best Blood Red Throne album to date and probably one of the best death metal albums of 2021 as well. Highly Recommended.
