BROKEN HOPE Mutilated And Assimilated
HotChicago, Illinois based tehnical death metal act Broken Hope was fonded way back in 1988 and they kept the wheels spinning until the dawn of the new millenium when the band was put on hold. In 2012 the Broken Hope re-united with guitarist Jeremy Wagner as the only member left of the original line-up. Now the guys are back with a brand new album entitled 'Mutilated and Assimilated', which is their seventh full-lenght album and in my honest opinion their by far best album to date. We're of course talking techincal death metal the american way, in the vein of bands like Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus and Suffocation. The album has a certain horror atmosphere to it, both in the musical and lyrical sense. A couple of tracks are for instance directly dedicated to John Carpenters movie The Thing and John W. Campbell Jr's short story Who Goes There, while other lyrics deals with terrifying themes from real life. Musically the album follows a well known receipe for this particular genre so don't expect the unexpected here. With that stated I must add that all songs are premium quality death metal wrapped into a powerful and modern production so if american technical death metal is your cup of the there's really no need to hesitate.
