BULLET No Mercy
HotFirst of all this is not a new album, not even close, and we’re not talking a re-issue either but an album originally released back in 1983. These Bochum based Germans came together as a band in 1978, and managed to release two full length albums before they split-up sometimes during the eighties. ‘No Mercy’ didn’t receive too much attention around its release and I just accidently got aware of it as their single ‘I Sold My Soul To Rock ‘N Roll’ was played on a rock show on Norwegian radio back in those days. Their music is traditional eighties hard rock with riff-driven songs with catchy sing along choruses and a singer whose voice at times makes me think of Mark Storace of Krokus. The album contains 10 good songs where two stands out in particular and that’s the already mentioned ‘I Sold My Soul To Rock ‘N Roll’ and ‘Down By The Neonlights’, which both are excellent catchy hard rock anthems and those alone justifies investing in this album. Bass player Fitty Wienhold and guitarist Jürgen Graf have both been involved in U.D.O. after the split-up of Bullet. More than thirty years after its release I still find ‘No Mercy’ enjoyable to listen to and maybe a couple of our readers will discover it too after my little retrospective review. The album may not be easy to find these days, but it is at least available on iTunes.
