COGNITIVE Matricide

Cognitive's 2016 album 'Deformity' was frequently played at my home around it's release, and now the New Jersey based tehcnical death metal force are back with the follow up which is their third studio album and their second for Unique Leader Records. Cognitive's style lies in the more brutal end of the tech death genre but still well structured and melodic. On the vocal side various styles are uesed and it works pretty well, even though I personally would have preferred more of the traditional deep death grunts and less of the more screaming style. Anyway, 'Matricide' consist of ten brutal technical death metal anthems with a hint of death core, all of them of very solid quality wrapped into an excellent production and performed by musicians of the highest level. If you're in for 40 minutes of extremely well controlled chaos then I can easily recommend this one.
