It’s not unlikely that my album of the year for 2026 comes from Denmark. Dawn Of Demise have returned with their seventh full‑length release, and while their catalogue has always been reliably brutal, Feed My Absurdity feels like a genuine leap forward. The band stays true to the formula that has defined their sound for years, meaning groove‑laden, predominantly mid‑tempo death metal delivered with precision, but everything here hits harder, cleaner, and with more authority.

Tue Madsen’s production is as dense and punishing as ever, wrapping the music in a thick, muscular soundscape where the rhythm guitars form a massive wall. Beneath that, the rhythm section locks in with a tightness that gives the album its relentless drive. There’s also some real nice lead guitar work to be found here, adding flashes of melody and finesse without compromising the band’s trademark heaviness.

Vocally, this is exactly what I want from death metal: deep, intelligible growls with zero intrusion from high‑pitched shrieks or clean vocals. It’s just a no‑nonsense approach that suits the band perfectly.

The songwriting is remarkably consistent across the album’s runtime, with each track offering strong riffs, memorable grooves, and a clear sense of purpose. Fans of American heavyweights like Suffocation, Deeds Of Flesh, Dying Fetus, and Deicide will find plenty to appreciate here. Dawn Of Demise operate in a similar stylistic space, though with their own distinctly Scandinavian weight and swagger.

A highly recommended release from a band that continues to refine and elevate their craft.
