DEATH ANGEL The Dream Calls For Blood
HotDeath Angel made an impact on the thrash metal genre in the late eighties and their 1990 effort ‘Act III’ is still considered a classic amongst fans of the genre, myself included. Though thrash metal never died it faced tough times through parts of the nineties, as many other heavy metal subgenres. Death Angel reunited for their 2004 release ‘The art of dying’ an has since then been going strong. Their previous album, ‘Relentless Retribution’ was a real fresh breath and the standard for what’s to come was set. On ‘The Dream Calls For Blood’ Death Angel sounds vital and angry as ever. The energy in the material is amazing but still everything sounds well structured within a framework of strong melodies mainly composed by guitarist Rob Cavestany. Mark Osegueda is still among the best thrash metal singers around, and he deserves credit for the convincing way he convey the lyrics. All songs on this album are of high standard and the production is powerful and up to date. ‘The Dream Calls For Blood’ is simply a very strong album proving that Death Angel are a force to be considered even in 2013.
