DEEDS OF FLESH Nucleus

This is undoubtedly the most anticipated release this year for me personally and now the wait is finally over. The band started the work on this material about seven years ago, but the release was delayed when founding member Erik Lindmark sadly lost his battle with Sclerosis and passed in 2018. The music was written by Erik Lindmark (RIP), Craig Peters, Ivan Munguia and Darren Cesca, and had been recorded and partially mixed for almost four years. When Erik Lindmark passed in 2018, vocalist Jacoby Kingston came out of retirement to help finish the album. Alongside long-time drummer Mike Hamilton, they finished the story arc, wrote the lyrics and made the vocal arrangements for Nucleus. ‘Nucleus’ is the completion of a story that began with ‘Of What’s To Come’ in 2008 and ‘Portals To Canaan’ in 2013. The album consists of nine tracks of absolute premium quality brutal, technical death metal, but behind all brutality and insane musicianship there are orchestral arrangements and beautiful harmonies adding a melodic and atmospheric feel to the album. For the vocals on ‘Nucleus’ main vocalist Jacoby Kingston has been joined by guest appearances from some of the biggest names in the extreme metal genre to celebrate the life and music of Erik Lindmark. The album features contributions from, among others, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher (Cannibal Corpse), Frank Mullen (Suffocation), John Gallagher (Dying Fetus), Luc Lemay (Gorguts), Bill Robinson (Decrepit Birth) and Dusty Boisjolie (Severed Savior). ‘Nucleus’ was mixed and mastered by Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate, Oakland, CA, and the production on this album is simply outstanding. Let’s just hope that ‘Nucleus’ receives the attention it deserves from metal hordes all over the world, and that the guys involved hopefully decides to keeps Deeds Of Flesh alive for years to come to bring us even more mind blowing death metal and to keep the memory of Erik Lindmark alive as well. To me there is absolutely no doubt, ‘Nucleus’ is the album of the year 2020!
