'Anathema' is third full lenght album from Japanese technical/brutal death metal act Desecravity and like both it's predecessors it's beeing released through Willowtip records. The total runtime of this album is just above thirty minutes and even thogh I normally find that a bit to short it's actually quite a mouthful when it comes to this kind of music. I would probably file this one as technical death metal even though it's slightly more brutal than the average release within this genre. The first thing that strikes you when hearing 'Anathema' is the outstanding musicanship of each and everyone of the members, but after a few rounds you'll discover that there's much more to this album than just tecnical finesse. The song material is excellent with a fine balance between brutal riffing, technical finesse and strong melodies and it's always a good sign when you just wanna push the play-button once the last notes of the album has faded out. 'Anathema' was mixed and mastered by non other than Mr. Dan Swanö, securing a powerful but yet organic production allowing every single detail to shine through the the massive walls of brutality. Enough said, if you concider yourself a fan of technical death metal you don't wanna miss out on this one.
