DRACONIAN Sovran
HotSwedish death/doom metallers makes their return to the limelight with their sixth studio album entitled 'Sovran', once again they have remained faithful to their style and there's nothing wrong about that. Instedad of trying to redefine the genre these guys focus on writing good songs within the framework that once earned them success, and in that respect I would say that they have succeeded once again. The material is mostly slow, dark and atmospheric with some mid tempo passages here and there and on top of that theres of course the typical beauty and the beast vocals with newcomer Heike Langhans soft and fragile voice making a sharp contrast to Anders Jacobssons powerful growls. When it comes to crowling Mr. Jacobbson has been one of my personal favorites for years and his performance on this album surely doesn't change that. All nine tracks are solid quality and the production is very good as well, so if atmospheric death/doom meal is your cup of tea then 'Sovran' is a safe bet.
