FROSTTIDE Awakening

Frosttide is a relatively new band, formed in Juäskylä, Finland in 2009.  They have released two EP´s ahead of ´Awakening´ which is their debut full length album. Frosttide likes to describe their style as melodic folk metal but there are elements of both melodic death metal and symphonic black metal incorporated into their sound as well.  I would have guessed that this was a Finnish band even before I read their bio, and parallels can easily be drawn to bands like Ensiferum and Korpiklaani to name a few.. Frosttide don´t offer anything new to the genre to be honest, but the song material is quite strong and atmospheric and the album has a very good production as well. So if you´re into the mixture of folk- and extreme metal I´m sure you will like this excellent debut from Frosttide as well.
