GORMATHON Following The Beast

Gormathon brings a little bit of fresh blood into the melodic death metal arena, sounding slightly different to most other bands in the genre. It’s not that everything on this album is extremely original, in fact it’s not and these Swedes are obviously heavily inspired by their fellow countrymen in both Amon Amarth, In Flames and Dark Tranquillity as well as by more traditional heavy metal bands. The vocals changes between death grunts, the more screaming kind and clean vocals, which of course contributes to great variation. The song material is very strong and the production is excellent as well. I really like the allover atmosphere that surrounds this album, created by the mix of heavy riffing, beautiful melodic guitar harmonies, melodic vocal lines and vital energy. Another good thing about this album is that the clean vocals are among the best within this genre. Fans of melodic death metal in general should definitely check out ‘Following the beast’
