HATRIOT Heroes Of Origin

I must admit that I had never even heard of Hatriot when I received this album, therefore I pushed the play button with absolutely no expectations at all and I didn't bother to read the press note either. Ten songs later I was sitting there with a huge smile on my face wondering what the hell just hit me. Then I discovered that Hatriot is the new band of legendary bay area thrash singer Steve 'Zetro' Souza, original singer of both Testament and Exodus but of course best known for his work with Exodus. Steve is definitely one of the best and most charismatic singers within the thrash genre, but he is also a great composer and songwriter. In Hatriot he has joined forces with four young and hungry musicians, among them his two sons Cody and Nick on respectively bass and drums. The two other band members, guitarists Kosta "V" and Miguel Esparza deserves to be mentioned as well since they both deliver impressing guitarwork with an energy level rarely heard since the golden days of the Bay Area thrash scene. 'Heroes Of Origin' is a very well produced album and the quality of the material is nothing short of excellent. All this together makes 'Heroes Of Origin' one of the most refreshing and best thrash albums I've heard in years, I can only imagine what an energy bomb this band must be live.
