'The Aeon’s Torn' is the second and final part of a concept that began with the debut album "Beyond The Gates Of Imagination pt. 1 '. A reissue of the debut was by the way released the same day as 'The Aeon’s Torn'. LEVIATHAN is a German band with a rather peculiar expression. The basic foundation of the music is melodic death metal with clear references to Scandinavia and perhaps especially Sweden, but then they also spice diligently with progressive elements and elements of classical music. All this has resulted in an eclectic sound with great detail level where you even after several rounds constantly will discover new details. Compared to their debut the classic elements are even more prominent this time around with keyboards and piano playing central roles in the sound, which again contributes to more dynamics and tempo variation. The songs are of a very high standard throughout the whole album and the production is probably also a bit better on 'The Aeon’s Torn' than on the debut. If I should poke at something it must be that the vocals at times can be slightly tiring, I’m in particular thinking of the parties where it approaches the screaming variant that is often used in the hardcore genre. Fortunately the allover quality of the material together with the atmosphere that surrounds the album makes up for this so there is absolutely no reason to be afraid. 'The Aeon’s Torn' is simply a brilliant and highly recommended album, and the same can be said about the debut album as well so do not hesitate to check out that one as well it
