MEADOW'S END The Sufferwell

Meadow’s End is a six piece band heading from Sweden and now they are back with the successor to their debut album from 2010 ‘Ode to quietus’ and what a masterpiece these guys have created. ‘The Sufferwell’ is the most innovative, and probably also the best album I’ve heard within this genre in a very, very long time. The genre I’m referring to is melodic death metal, but Meadow’s End are stretching the boundaries of the genre as their music is a lot more symphonic than most other melodic death metal bands. The growling vocals on this album is simply amazing as it makes the perfect contrast to the clean vocals and all together sounds like a deadly combination. Behind hard riffing guitars, thundering drums and bass lies a massive wall of atmospheric and symphonic keyboard and piano arrangements. The song material is incredible strong with amazing atmosphere, beautiful melodies and a great deal of variation. We even get something as rare within the genre as a beautiful ballad. As strange as it may sound ‘The Sufferwell’ is a self-released album, but I’m quite sure that it won’t last long before a major label picks up Meadow’s End. ‘The Sufferwel’ is by far the most played album at my home the past few weeks and I won’t be surprised if this is the album of the year.
