MOTÖRHEAD Bad Magic

The last few years has been subject to health issues for Lemmy which has resulted in cancelled shows, but still he has found energy to create the 22nd Motörhead album. His voice may be slightly raspier than before, but apart from that this album represents everything a true Motörhead fan could possibly ask for. Ok, there are no songs reaching the standards of classics like ‘Ace of spades’, ‘Thunder and lightning’ or ‘Killed by death’, but it works quite well anyway. It’s still straight forward, dirty rock ‘n roll with the unmistakable energy level that has defined the Motörhead sound very intact. Phil Campell deserves credit for his guitar work on this album, there are some really nice riffs and solos to be heard here behind Lemmy and Micky Dee’s massive wall of bass and drums. ‘Bad magic’ really gets me in a good mood and that’s basically what rock ‘n roll is all about, isn’t it? Alongside the 12 new tracks on this album Motörhead have included a really nice cover version of the Rolling Stones classic ‘Sympathy for the devil’. To deliver material at this energy level through four decades is nothing less than impressive, so to all you bastards out there; raise your iron fists once again and lets Rock ‘N’ Roll.
