OMNIUM GATHERUM Beyond

Omnium Gatherum are back with their sixth studialbum, and their second for Lifeforce Records. I've been a bit on and off about this band to be honest, I really liked 'Years in waste' while 'The redshift' was a rather disapointing album in my opinion. 'New world shadows' on the other hand was a big step in the right direction showing a slightly doomier side of Omnium Gatherum. 'Beyond' is probably their most ambitious album to date, and by far their most melodic effort where keyboards and orchestral arrangements have been allowed more space in the sound than ever before and this change suits the band really well. Despite all this, the aggression and the progressiveness are still very present and important parts of the Omnium Gatherum sound and all together this gives 'Beyond' the perfect balance. Once again Dan Swanö has been responsible for the production and as always he has done an excellent job. The most important thing though is that the quality of the song material is better than ever. My personal favourites on 'Beyond' are the epic and atmospheric 'Nightwalkers' and 'White Palace' which are the two longest tracks on the album as well, but with that stated I must add that all tracks are of premium quality. 'Beyond' is the best Omnium Gatherum album to date, period!
