OMNIUM GATHERUM The Burning Cold

'The Burning Cold' is the eighth full lenght album from Finish melodic death metal veterans Omnium Gatherum, yet their first for Century Media Records and also the first with new drummer Tuomo Latvala. Omnium Gatherum is probably one of the most underestimated bands within this genre, but hopfully 'The Burning Cold' and their new partnership with Century Media will see a change to that. I was never 100 % conviced by theirs 2016 effort 'Grey Heavens', it's wasn't poor but didn't quite reach the standards of my favorites such as the epic 'Beyond' album either. 'The Burning Cold' on the other hans sees the band back in top shape, with razor sharp song writing and excellent arrangements and performances. According to the band themselves this is their most melodic, but yet heaviest relese to date and that's actually a pretty good description of the material. Produced by Teemu Aalto and mixed by Dan Swanö it simply can't go wrong soundwise either. All in all an excellent album from one of the best bands this genre has to offer.
