PRESSURE POINTS False Lights

Pressure Points is a progressive metal band founded in Heinola, Finland in 2004, and they mention bands such as Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater and Rush as their main influences. It may be correct to define Pressure Points as a progressive metal band, but there are definitely elements of death metal in their music as well. This is mostly due to the fact that they use both clean vocals and death metal grunts. Some of those swearing to traditional progressive metal may not like that mixture, but in my opinion it just brings in another element of variation to the material and it works perfectly well. The instrumental parts though are arranged more traditionally as you would expect from a melodic progressive metal band, but there are some parts here that gives me a certain Opeth feel as well. The most importatnt thing though is that these guys have managed to come up with six strong, tecnical, melodic and epic songs that all clocks in between eight and ten minutes each. All this comes with an excellent production which makes 'False lights' a really pleasant album to listen to and I highly recommend it wether you're into progressive metal or death metal.....or even better; both.
