PSYCRENCE A Frail Deception

Psycrence is a progressive metal band heading from Athens, Greece, formed in 2009 and have only released one demo ahead of ‘A Frail Deception’. Don’t expect anything groundbreaking from Psycrence, they stay true to the well known progressive metal formula and you can easily hear elements of bands such as Dream Theater and Symphony X in their sound. Nothing wrong about that though as long as they deliver quality like this. The song material has a nice balance between melody and atmosphere on one hand and heavy riff and odd time signatures on the other. The production is very good as well just as you would expect from this kind of music, and Mr. Jens Bogren has as always done a great mastering job. Besides this Psycrence also have a great vocalist in Takis Niolakakis. The album may lack the absolute killer tracks, but the material is still strong and very even so if you’re into progressive metal you should definitely check out ‘A Frail Deception’.
