REVOCATION Deathless
HotAfter their self-released debut album ‘Empire Of The Obscene’ Boston based Revocation signed with Relapse Records and another three album were released before the journey went on to Metal Blade records and the release of their fifth studio album entitled ‘Deathless’. Musically Revocation is operating in the interface between technical death metal and thrash metal. I guess you can say that they offer the best of both worlds. On one side you have the energetic fast riffing that is that is so typical for thrash while you on the other side have the intricate song signatures and growling vocals that defines technical death metal. On top of this are the beautiful and technically brilliant guitar leads and harmonies. Normally I prefer more focus on melody and atmosphere when I listen to technical death metal, but it’s impossible not to be both impressed and blown away by the energy these guys creates through their music and how effortless they make all those technically insane parts sound like the most natural thing in the world. ‘Deathless’ is a very strong album that I’m sure will be appreciated by fans of thrash metal as well as death metal fans. Great stuff!
