REVOCATION The Outer Ones

Boston based Revocation hits back with their seventh studio album, and their third for Metal Blade Records. According to the band themselves they have been aming for darker and more pure death metal sound this time, and that´s of course music to my ears. The thrash elements are far less evident this time than on previous albums, and I think it suits the band just perfect. The song material is still very riff oriented and in your face, but it simply sounds more consistent to me. It´s quite brutal and technically brilliant, but at the same time melodic enough to keep it interesting wrapped into an excellent production allowing every intricate detail to shine through and all those excellent guitar leads and harmonies to cut through the mix. All nine tracks are premium quality, but if i had to pick a couple of personal favorites it would be the title track and the seven minutes long closing track ´A Starless Darkness´. To my ears this is the best Revocation album to date. Highly recommended.
