SIGNUM REGIS Chapter IV: The Reckoning
HotJust six months after releasing the 'Through The Storm' EP, Slovakian melodic power metal act are back with their fourth full length album containing ten brand new tracks, as none of the tracks from the EP are included on this album. Signum Regis music is relatively standard European melodic power metal with thundering drums, atmospheric and epic keyboard arrangements, hard riffing guitars with shredding solo parts, sing-along choruses and mid to high pitch vocals. Everything you would expect from a release within this genre in other words. The lyrics are inspired by stories from the bible, as has been the case on their previous albums as well. Though vocalist Mayo Petranin has a quite typical voice for this kind of music I must say that he does a pretty good job on this album and his voice suits the music perfectly. Main man Filip Lolus delivers some really impressing guitar shredding and som really nice harmonies as well. I'm not fully convinced by all the songs on this album, but most of them are of solid quality. 'Chapter IV. The Reckoning' was produced by the band itself, while mastering duties were handed to mr. Jens Bogren. Signum Reigis doesn't bring anything new to the table to be honest, but the album is well worth checking out if your a die hard fan of melodic power metal.
