SILENT VOICES Reveal The Change
Hot
Finnish melodic progressive metallers Silent Voices, often referred to as “the other band” of Sonata Arctica members Henrik Klingenberg and Pasi Kauppinen, are back with their fourth studio effort. Seven years have passed since the excellent ‘Building Upt The Apathy’ saw the light of day, but finally the much anticipated follow up is here. The style is more or less the same as before, which means a mixture of progressive metal, melodic metal and hard rock. You can hear elements of Sonata Arctica in the music, but also references to bands such as Circus Maximus. The music is extremely melodic, catchy and almost radio friendly, but yet the brilliant technical abilities of each member are allowed to shine through. Since last Teemu Koskela (Winterborn) has joined the band as their new frontman and he does an excellent job with the vocals. The song material is once again very strong even if I’m not sure it completely matches ‘Building Up The Apathy’. There’s a few guest appearances on the album as well, such as Mats Levén (ex-Therion, Yngwie Malmsteen), Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica), Mike Vescera (Obsession, ex-Loudness, Yngwie Malmsteen) and Mike DiMeo (ex-Masterplan, Riot). If you’re into melodic, accessible progressive metal then you should definitely check out Silent Voices.
