THE NEW BLACK III: Cut Loose

The New Black is a german band that has been around since 2009, with two full length albums under the belt previous to this one. To describe their style I will steel producer Jacob Hansens words; "The New Black is a mix of both modern metal and vintage rock ´n´roll", I think that pretty much sums it up. The opening track ´Innocence & Time´ sounds like a modernized version of a Motorhead song and that one is probably my favorite track on ´III: Cut loose´. From there on they keep switching between modern metal type of songs and mor standard straight forward fast rock ´n´roll tracks. The New Black are definitely at their best when they stay pure rock ´n´roll such as in the opener and in the title track. Unfortunately they´re trying too hard to sound different and modern, which in my opinion just contributes to make the album less interesting. My advice to the band would therefore be to stay on the dirty rock ´n´roll path that suits them so good and really refine their style on their next effort.
