WARRIOR PATH The Mad King
HotThis album may have been out for a few months already, but it only recently landed on my radar and it certainly deserved a closer look. Warrior Path, the Greek heavy/power metal project founded by guitarist Andreas Sinanoglou, returns with The Mad King, a release that showcases a remarkably strong lineup. For this album, Sinanoglou has teamed up with multi‑instrumentalist and producer Bob Katsionis (a familiar name in the Greek metal scene), drummer Dave Rundle, and former Lost Horizon vocalist Daniel Heiman.
Musically, the band delivers a blend of melodic, epic‑sounding heavy metal and traditional power metal. It’s not a reinvention of the genre, but the quality of the songwriting is undeniably impressive. The album maintains a consistently high standard from start to finish, with no weak moments in sight.
One of the record’s standout qualities is its powerful, polished production, which gives the material the weight and clarity it deserves. The guitar work is particularly noteworthy, tasty riffs, soaring harmonies, and expressive lead parts all contribute to the album’s rich, melodic character.
Daniel Heiman’s presence is another major asset. His performances on the classic Lost Horizon albums earned him a devoted following, and The Mad King proves that his extraordinary voice remains as commanding and expressive as ever.
For fans of traditional heavy metal and melodic power metal, this album is an easy recommendation. The Mad King is a triumphant and thoroughly enjoyable release that stands well above the genre’s crowded landscape.
