American black metal band Abigail Williams has begun recording its seventh studio album & successor to “A Void Within Existence” from 2025.
The band comments: "Recording has begun on our 7th full-length album. Drums are done, once again handled by Mike Heller, and the rest of the work is now underway at Ken's home studio. We began before our European tour, which was a great success, and after a couple of weeks to recover, the work has resumed in earnest. Thanks to Fortress Fest UK and Zappenduster for having us, and to our support bands in Ireland and Shagor across mainland Europe. No shortcuts are being taken; the goal is to match the intensity of our last two albums, and push it further. Another update will follow once recording is complete and we move into mixing. Release is set for early next year."

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Abigail Williams is an American black metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona, in 2004 by guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter Ken Sorceron. Throughout its career, the band has undergone numerous lineup changes, with Sorceron remaining the sole constant member and creative force behind its evolving sound.
Initially drawing attention with the Legend EP in 2006, Abigail Williams blended symphonic black metal with elements of melodic death metal and metalcore, creating a style that stood apart from many of their contemporaries in the American extreme metal scene. Their debut full-length, In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns (2008), showcased grand orchestral arrangements, blistering riffs, and a cinematic atmosphere, quickly establishing the band as one of the most ambitious acts in modern U.S. black metal.
With In the Absence of Light (2010), Abigail Williams shifted toward a more traditional and uncompromising black metal approach. The album featured a darker, colder sound with greater emphasis on aggressive riffing and atmospheric depth. This stylistic evolution continued on Becoming (2012), a record praised for its dense compositions, technical musicianship, and immersive production.
Released in 2015, The Accuser marked another significant step forward, embracing a more progressive and emotionally layered direction while maintaining the band's signature intensity. The critically acclaimed Walk Beyond the Dark (2019) further refined Abigail Williams' sound, combining haunting melodies, expansive atmospheres, and intricate songwriting into one of the band's strongest and most mature releases.
In 2025, Abigail Williams returned with A Void Within Existence, continuing their exploration of atmospheric black metal while incorporating progressive structures and deeply introspective themes. The album demonstrated Ken Sorceron's continued artistic growth and reaffirmed the band's place among the leading names in contemporary American black metal.
Known for blending ferocious aggression with cinematic scope and melancholic atmosphere, Abigail Williams has carved out a unique identity within the modern black metal landscape. Rather than remaining confined to a single style, the band has consistently evolved with each release, earning respect for its artistic ambition, dynamic songwriting, and unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of the genre.
