Testimony Records proudly announces the debut full-length album of Portuguese deathers CRUCIVORE, entitled "Desecration", set for release on November 13th 2026.
The crushing leodoff single "Depths Of Despair" is premiered here with a music video:
Vocalist Ricardo Proença comments: "The track 'Depths of Despair' carries a distinctive sense of eerie darkness. This unsettling atmosphere is created by a melodic foundation that is contrasted with powerful grooves and precisely placed slams, which add crushing weight to the track. Lyrically, this song explores the feeling of being trapped within your own despair, with no apparent way out. Heavy, dark, and captivating, 'Depths of Despair' combines a cinematic feeling with brutality to a powerful and immersive experience."
In the old harbour city of Lisbon, an undercurrent of darkness and morbidity hides beneath the sun-drenched gardens, beautifully tiled walls, and bustling streets of Portugal's proud capital. When the last revellers are gone in the early hours of morning just before dawn, something ancient rises from below.
It is this gnawing feeling that scratches at the edge of awareness of a sinister presence that haunts the tracks on CRUCIVORE's debut album "Desecration". Although these veterans of the Portuguese death metal scene are firmly building the foundations of their sound on the brutal and powerful principles of their genre, they take the style decisively into the present with their emphasis on cinematic elements and a fine sense of the dramatic and the epic.
Take a couple of die-hard death metal musicians from Portugal's capital, Lisbon, boasting massive talent and many years of experience under their belts. Combine that maturity with a burning desire and a clear vision to create uncompromising death metal songs that are infused with elements of brutal death and slam, and you get: CRUCIVORE.
CRUCIVORE were conceived on December 14th 2024. Precisely on that day, former ANALEPSY vocalist Ricardo Proença and guitarist Sérgio Páscoa (DOWNFALL OF MANKIND et al.) decided to join forces and form a new band. After recruiting more experienced musicians from Portugal, this new musical entity drew from decades of honing their craft to amalgamate crushing riffs, relentless drum pounding, devastating breakdowns, cavernous vocals, and carefully crafted dynamics into a contemporary sound that merges death metal intensity with the crushing weight of brutal death and slam.
CRUCIVORE opted for the classic lyrical themes of their genre, and their songs generally revolve around corruption, decay, blasphemy, mortality, and apocalyptic scenes, while also exploring the grotesque nature of existence through a lens of darkness and desecration.
Rather than relying on nostalgia or trends, CRUCIVORE seek to contribute to the ongoing evolution of death metal through conviction, experience, and an unwavering dedication to the underground. Instead of just delivering more of the same, the Portuguese seek for ways forward and they have found it in musical storytelling.
With "Desecration", CRUCIVORE deliver an outstanding debut full-length album and a musical vision that is bound to respectfully and diligently broaden the horizon of death metal.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

CRUCIVORE are a Brutal Death Metal band from Lisbon, Portugal, formed in late 2024. Although a relatively new name within the Portuguese extreme metal underground, the band brings together musicians with considerable experience from a wide range of projects, including Analepsy, Kraanium (live), Downfall of Mankind, Lvnae Lvmen, Shoryuken, Deeds of Sanity, Legacy of Cinthia, Vella, Insvla (live), Haunted Minds, ATA and Burned Blood.
The band was originally conceived by guitarist Sérgio Páscoa and vocalist Ricardo Proença, united by a desire to create uncompromising Death Metal built around the aggression, heaviness and visceral energy that first drew them to the genre. Drummer Tomás Carvalho and guitarist Ricardo Jorge subsequently joined the project, while the line-up was eventually completed by bassist Caesar Craveiro, who replaced founding bassist Cláudio. Despite leaving the performing line-up, Cláudio remained involved with CRUCIVORE through the band's management and organisational activities.
Musically, CRUCIVORE operate firmly within the brutal end of the Death Metal spectrum, combining crushing riffs, violent blast beats, guttural vocals and heavily groove-oriented passages with elements of Slam Death Metal. Their music balances relentless speed with slower, punishing sections designed for maximum physical impact, drawing comparisons to bands such as Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Gorgasm while developing an identity rooted in the contemporary Portuguese extreme metal scene.
CRUCIVORE made their live debut in July 2025 and quickly began establishing themselves on the Portuguese underground circuit. Their intense performances and highly physical approach to Brutal Death Metal earned the band an increasingly strong reputation, with shows characterised by crushing rhythmic sections, deep guttural vocals and constant interaction with the audience.
During 2026 the band continued to expand its live presence, appearing at events including Xapada Fest, Almada Swath Fest, LX Extreme Death Fest and Laurus Nobilis Music Fest. Their performances demonstrated that despite the band's relatively short existence, CRUCIVORE had already developed into a confident and formidable live act.
On June 10th, 2026, CRUCIVORE officially introduced their recorded material with the release of their debut single, “Triumph of the Grotesque Disorder.” Accompanied by a music video premiered through Slam Worldwide, the track provided the first official studio representation of the band's sound. Lyrically, the song explores the collapse of social order and portrays a society increasingly consumed by violence, corruption, institutional failure and fear, themes mirrored by the oppressive and confrontational nature of the music.
The single marked the beginning of a new phase for CRUCIVORE, with the band simultaneously working towards their debut full-length album. Combining the experience of musicians already familiar with the extreme metal underground with the hunger of a newly formed band, CRUCIVORE have rapidly emerged as one of the promising new names in Portugal's Brutal Death Metal scene.
