In the shadowed places beneath the earth, lit only by the channelled flames of a hatred older than time itself, there is a whisper racing through the tunnels of the worm, scuttling across the vaulted caverns of the insect gods, down into the magma pits of the ancient sleepers. The time of ascension is at hand, the moment of all things ending, when the children of the Abysm climb into the light…
Divulsor crawled from the bloody imagination of multi-instrumentalist and song writer Bruno Schmidt in Curitiba, Brazil, in 2015. Unwilling to be held back or slowed down by the interdependencies of a full band line-up, Schmidt opted to go it alone, keeping the Divulsor vision undiluted by external influences. This decision was more than vindicated by Divulsor's first release, the Defiled Corridors Of Ruptured Oblivion EP, which was unleashed upon the world in 2018 by Sevared Records. Having shown what Divulsor was capable of in the studio, Schmidt set about proving that his one-man death metal strike force could take on all comers in the live arena too, even travelling to England to lay waste to London with Carnation and Body Harvest. Since then Divulsor has shared the stage with legendary names like Incantation, Krisiun, Crypta and Troops Of Doom, trading blows with the very best. And now it's time for the next milestone in the Divulsor story to be unveiled, the monstrous full length debut album, Abysm!
Abysm begins with the multitudinous riffs of 'Axis Of An Inverted Birth', each one more incisive and effective than the last, each one decimating but memorable and bristling with vicious hooks that catch in the skin and drag you ever deeper into the hellscape of Abysm. 'An Unfavourable Omen' follows, sharp and melodious, switching between blistering speed and sinister, stuttering crawls through an unrelenting darkness. Overflowing with wild, musical imaginings, Divulsor's music never settles; it twists and leaps between varied barrages of brutality, constantly reshaping itself for the next strategic assault on your sanity. Directed by Schmidt's imperious, implacable vocals Abysm marches onwards in utterly unstoppable fashion; from the masterful 'Conflagration Of Your Unit - irresistible power, heart-shaking grooves, adrenalized and catchy as barbed wire - to the jagged, unpredictable brutality of 'Another Form Beneath' and the methodical grinding of 'Absorbed Into A Vacant Body', crushing bones to dust between its iron teeth. As Metal Purgatory Media once said, Divulsor is “brutal death done right”. Abysm is a triumph of individual creativity and a determined work ethic, an album whose arsenal of riffs reveals ever more impressive weapons as it unfolds.
With a sound that can flatten buildings and shatter skulls and adorned in artwork that brings its world of dark horrors to visceral, thrilling life, evoking the classic album covers of death metal's legendary pioneers, Abysm is the complete brutal death metal package. Its nightmares await you…

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Divulsor is a Brazilian brutal death metal band from Curitiba, Paraná, formed in 2015 by multi-instrumentalist Bruno Schmidt. Conceived from the outset as a one-man band, Divulsor became the vehicle through which Schmidt could pursue his own uncompromising vision of death metal without the practical limitations or creative compromises associated with maintaining a conventional line-up.
Schmidt was already an experienced figure within the Brazilian underground before creating Divulsor. Over the years he had been involved with several bands and projects, including Warclouds, Libidinum and Thanatosis, gaining experience as a guitarist, bassist, vocalist and songwriter. With Divulsor, however, he assumed complete control, handling vocals, guitars, bass and drum programming as well as the songwriting and arrangements.
The first material began taking shape shortly after the band's formation. Schmidt's approach to composition was instinctive, with riffs often forming together with their accompanying drum patterns in his mind. Rather than deliberately setting out to create a particular style, the increasingly fast and aggressive material naturally developed into brutal death metal. Schmidt has nevertheless always regarded Divulsor as a band rather than merely a side project, despite being its sole permanent member.
Divulsor made its recording debut with the EP Defiled Corridors of Ruptured Oblivion, released through the American label Sevared Records on March 1, 2018. Recorded between 2016 and 2017 at Passagem de Som Estúdios, the five-track release introduced Divulsor's dense and violent interpretation of brutal death metal, combining relentless riffing, abrupt rhythmic changes, programmed percussion and Schmidt's guttural vocal delivery.
Despite the one-man configuration, Divulsor was never intended to remain exclusively a studio entity. Schmidt took the material onto the stage and performed extensively in support of the debut EP. The band appeared throughout southern Brazil and shared stages with numerous underground and established acts. Divulsor also ventured outside Brazil, appearing at Criminal Metal Camp in Argentina in 2018 and later travelling to England for a performance in London alongside Carnation and Body Harvest. Over the years Divulsor has also shared stages with prominent extreme metal names including Incantation, Krisiun, Crypta and The Troops of Doom.
Work on a full-length album began relatively early. Schmidt was already discussing the successor to Defiled Corridors of Ruptured Oblivion during 2018, describing the developing material as an extension of the EP's direction but considerably more brutal. The recording process would ultimately prove lengthy, with the album remaining in development for several years.
That long period of creation eventually resulted in Divulsor's debut full-length, Abysm, released on July 24, 2026. Consisting of eight tracks and running for just over twenty-two minutes, the album presented a concentrated assault of brutal death metal built around Schmidt's extensive riffing, sudden tempo changes, grinding passages and guttural vocals. Once again, the music was essentially the product of a single musician, preserving the independent philosophy upon which Divulsor had originally been founded.
With Abysm, Divulsor finally completed the transition from the promising brutality displayed on the 2018 EP to a fully realised full-length statement. Nearly a decade after the band's creation, Bruno Schmidt's project remains an intensely personal manifestation of Brazilian brutal death metal – driven by one musician, one vision and an unwavering dedication to extreme music.
