A masterpiece of profound melancholy and atmosphere mixed with aggressive beauty and emotional weight. Physical pre-orders for the album, Digipak CD with booklet, or limited (300) hardwood colored vinyl with insert and digital download are available via Bandcamp and the M-Theory Audio webstore. Both platforms will ship from the US or Europe based upon your location.
“There’s only a couple instances I regretted passing on a band’s submission, and ENDLESS CHAIN is one. We considered releasing the band’s 2024 album, ‘Agony.” reminisces label founder Marco Barbieri. "Hearing the finished album, I instantly knew I’d made a mistake—Endless Chain's unique mix of dark aggression and poignant emotion resonated instantly. I'm thrilled they gave us another chance with their third album—a powerhouse release that takes their evocative, expressive songwriting to a whole new level."
“We’re incredibly excited to join the M-Theory Audio family,” comments founder and guitarist Timo Mölsä on the signing. “Many years of dedicated and patient work have led us to this moment. We would like to sincerely thank Marco Barbieri and the entire M-Theory Audio team for believing in our band and our music. We can’t wait to share the new album with the world.”
“Although ‘Fade to Nothingness’ is one of the heaviest EC songs ever, there’s still something beautiful within it,” Mölsä adds. “It’s a good representation of the upcoming album, and it was one of the first songs I wrote for the new album.”
Vocalist Aki Salonen reflects on the song's dark thematic core, “The story behind the song is pretty complex. It’s about that ‘darkest hour’ when you finally admit to yourself that things went too far a long time ago, and no amount of fighting is going to bring that past back. It could be about relationships, serious illness, death, you name it. In the end, it’s up to the listener which perspective eases their mind the most.”

ABOUT ENDLESS CHAIN:
Founded by primary songwriter Timo Mölsä, ENDLESS CHAIN emerged as a deeply personal creative outlet before evolving into their formidable potential within the Finnish metal landscape. Characterized by rich, haunting melodies, crushing riffs, and atmospheric soundscapes, the band seamlessly bridges the gap between melancholic gothic metal and heavy melodic death metal.
Following their debut release, ‘Forthcoming Past,’ ENDLESS CHAIN solidified a stable recording and performance lineup featuring vocalist Aki Salonen, guitarist/primary songwriter Timo Mölsä, multi-instrumentalist Aleksanteri Kuosa, and drummer Samuli Mikkonen. Together, they have refined a sound that balances dark, emotive storytelling with aggressive, soaring metal instrumentation.
Following up on the success of their 2021 debut album ENDLESS CHAIN returned in 2024 with their sophomore effort, ‘Agony.’ ‘Agony’ expanded the band’s signature atmospheric sound—weaving together heavy, melancholic metal foundations with progressive nuances and intricate gothic structures. Central to the album's identity is the compelling vocal dynamic between Ville Hovi's soaring clean vocals and Aki Salonen’s visceral, harsh growls. Backed by guitarists Timo Mölsä and Aleksanteri Kuosa, alongside powerhouse drummer Samuli Mikkonen (Korpiklaani), the 10-track collection delves deep into human struggle, resilience, and hope amid inner chaos. ‘Agony’ soldified ENDLESS CHAIN’s place in Finnish melodic metal, delivering a deeply emotional and sonic journey through light and shadow.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Endless Chain is a Finnish progressive gothic metal band from Lahti, Päijät-Häme, founded and led by guitarist and composer Timo Mölsä. Although the band was officially formed in 2018, its roots reach back to 2016, when Mölsä began playing music together with his friend Ari Hokkanen. What initially started simply as a way of playing music for their own enjoyment soon developed into something considerably more ambitious when Mölsä discovered that he was far more interested in creating original material than learning cover songs.
Songwriting quickly became the driving force behind the project, with Mölsä handling the musical direction while Hokkanen contributed extensively to the lyrics. The project eventually took the name Endless Chain and gradually evolved from a personal songwriting outlet into a fully realized metal project involving a number of experienced musicians from the Finnish scene.
Endless Chain's music combines gothic and progressive metal with melodic death metal, doom and atmospheric elements, often moving between melancholic passages, heavy guitar-driven sections and more accessible melodic material. Clean and harsh vocals are frequently used alongside each other, while the band's lyrics revolve around subjects such as death, memories, the passage of time and the struggles and experiences encountered throughout life.
After several early recordings, Endless Chain began working towards its first full-length album. The resulting “Forthcoming Past” was released through Rockshots Records on June 25th, 2021. Rather than relying on a conventional permanent lineup, Mölsä assembled an impressive collection of musicians around his compositions. Vocal duties were shared between Mikko Heikkilä, Ville Hovi, Aki Salonen and Salla Sundberg, while producer Aleksanteri Kuosa contributed guitars, bass and keyboards and Samuli Mikkonen handled the drums.
The album also featured several notable guest appearances. Sami Yli-Sirniö, known from Kreator and Waltari, contributed lead guitar, while Antti Kolehmainen added cello to selected tracks. This collaborative approach gave Forthcoming Past a broad musical palette, ranging from atmospheric and melancholic gothic metal to heavier passages featuring growled vocals, progressive arrangements and occasional rock-oriented influences.
Rather than restricting Endless Chain to a narrowly defined style, Mölsä deliberately allowed the individual songs to develop in different directions. This became one of the defining characteristics of the project, with melody and melancholy remaining central even when the arrangements moved between heavier metal, progressive textures and quieter atmospheric sections.
Following the debut, Endless Chain continued developing into a more established band configuration. New material began appearing during the following years, including songs such as “Until No One Comes” and “Blind Kings”, the latter once again featuring Sami Yli-Sirniö alongside drummer Samuli Mikkonen and vocalist Ville Hovi.
The band's second full-length album, “Agony”, was released independently on August 23rd, 2024. The ten-track record continued the dark and melodic direction established on the debut while presenting a heavier and more focused version of Endless Chain. Mölsä remained the central composer and guitarist, with Ville Hovi providing clean vocals, Aki Salonen handling growled vocals, Aleksanteri Kuosa contributing guitars and bass, and Samuli Mikkonen on drums.
Guest musicians remained an important part of the Endless Chain sound. Sami Yli-Sirniö appeared on several tracks on Agony, while guitarist Panu Willman contributed to the album as well. Production duties were again handled by Aleksanteri Kuosa, with mastering by Svante Forsbäck.
What began as Timo Mölsä's personal songwriting project has therefore gradually developed into a collaborative Finnish metal band with its own recognizable identity. Endless Chain balances heaviness with melancholy and melody, drawing from gothic, progressive and melodic extreme metal without allowing any single genre to completely define its sound. With Mölsä's songwriting remaining at its core, the band continues to explore themes of mortality, memory, time and human vulnerability through an increasingly dark and atmospheric form of metal.
