FENRIR a female-fronted folk metal band, has forged a unique identity through the use of violins in addition to guitars and drums. Their songs are inspired by Celtic, Viking and medieval legends. After two EPs and a first full album, Echoes of the Wolf (2012), their second album is to due for release in early 2019.
FENRIR will be back in January 2019 with their new album, which takes as its subject the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
This new album, like the first one, Echoes of the Wolf (2012), was recorded and mixed by Yann Klimezyk. Mastered by Georges Moya, it has a cover designed by Edouard Noisette, alluding to the story of the Fisher King.
The album is darker and heavier than the earlier one, mainly in the guitar and drum parts, but is still strongly folk-based, with ever-present fiddles and acoustic passages between pure metal sections. The female vocals, extremely varied, contrast with male backing vocals and several sections with screamed vocals.
Fenrir’s lyrics are highly innovative: in particular, they perform here two songs in Old French, quoting from medieval manuscripts.
Fenrir sustain their momentum, whilst preserving their characteristic style, with this mature and coherent new album.

BIOGRAPHY
Fenrir was founded in 2006 in Lorraine, France, and has been mixing styles from the start: folk and traditional fiddles, an ethereal female voice, with heavy guitars and drums. Their first EP, Whispers of the Old World, came out in 2007, and the second, Frozen Flowers, in 2009.
In 2012, Fenrir signed with record companies Savage Prod and Season of Mist for their first full album, Echoes of the Wolf. Acclaimed by the musical press, the album led to a French tour. Fenrir has also toured in Europe with band Tristania from Norway and played in festivals such as H’elles on Stage with Kells and Cidre & Dragon with Van Canto.
In 2017, Fenrir (with new guitarists) shared the stage with Klone and Loudblast at the Metal Culture(s) festival, and with Chris Slade (AC/DC drummer) near Paris.
Their long-awaited second album is scheduled for release in 2019, taking as its subject the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
