Frostbite Terror is a melodic death metal band from Turku, Finland, formed in 2022. Drawing inspiration from the rich tradition of Finnish melodic death metal, the band has developed a sound that combines powerful melodeath melodies, thrash-driven guitar riffs and symphonic elements, while adding a distinctly Finnish sense of melancholy and dark humor.

Rather than limiting themselves to one particular mood or lyrical approach, Frostbite Terror balance serious themes with more humorous and unconventional subject matter. This contrast has become an important part of the band's identity, with heavy and melancholic compositions often accompanied by lyrics that approach their subjects from an unexpectedly dark or tongue-in-cheek perspective.

The band began introducing its music with the single “Tracks on the Snow” in 2023, followed by “Happy Ox” in 2024. These early releases established Frostbite Terror's melodic yet aggressive direction and paved the way for the band's collaboration with Finnish label Inverse Records.

In May 2025, Frostbite Terror released “Gehenna”, a melodic death metal track built around heavy guitar melodies and a characteristically humorous story about an evening that gradually descends into a hellish sauna experience. The song demonstrated the band's ability to combine traditional Finnish metal melancholy with a less conventional lyrical personality.

During 2026, Frostbite Terror moved toward the release of their first full-length album. The single “Maan multa” appeared in June and explored a considerably darker side of the band. Built around Finnish melancholy, nature and the national psyche, the song features guest vocals from Jukka Laaksonen of Restriction Line and Kaukaisuus. Its slower and gloomier atmosphere also reflects influences from the darker side of Finnish metal.

Frostbite Terror released their debut full-length album, Into the Frozen Depths, on July 24, 2026 through Inverse Records. Consisting of ten tracks, the album brings together material from the band's earlier singles with new compositions and presents the various sides of Frostbite Terror's musical identity. Melodic guitar work, thrashy riffing, symphonic arrangements and melancholic atmospheres form the foundation of an album that moves between seriousness, darkness and the band's distinctive sense of humor.

With Into the Frozen Depths, Frostbite Terror have established themselves as another emerging name from Finland's extensive melodic death metal scene. While their music remains firmly rooted in the traditions of Finnish melodeath, their combination of melancholy, aggression, symphonic textures and dark humor gives the band a personality of their own.
