Horror Pain Gore Death Productions welcome Gast to the roster with the new EP Förbannelser! Emerging from Västmanland Sweden, Gast channel the dark and cold essence of the northern landscapes through intense Black Metal. Their music combines raw intensity with haunting melodies, while their lyrics explore themes of evil, madness and folklore. Förbannelser is up now for pre-order and will be released July 31st on CD and Digital formats along with merch.

Förbannelser (which translates to Curses) explores death, decay, greed, nightmares and the end of humanity. Curses lie at the core, driving the downfall of both individuals and the world itself, taking shape as despair, insatiable greed, spreading plague and the final collapse. Gast deliver a wave of northern darkness, crafted for those who crave intensity, atmosphere and the presence of something ancient and malevolent rising beneath the surface.

Formed in 2015 in Kolsva, Västmanland, Sweden, Gast is a black metal band dedicated to crafting cold, atmospheric, and uncompromising music rooted in the Scandinavian tradition while maintaining its own modern identity. The band's name, Gast, is the Swedish word for "ghost" or "poltergeist," an apt reflection of the dark and haunting atmosphere that permeates its music.

Gast was founded by bassist Mikaela Åkesson, guitarist Fredrik Lundell, drummer Joel Axelsson, and vocalist Johan Fröjd. The members were already active together in the melodic death metal band Asylium, but Gast became an outlet for exploring darker and more sinister musical landscapes inspired by classic Swedish and Norwegian black metal.

Following several years of songwriting and development, the band released its debut full-length album, Mörkret Kallar, through Black Market Metal Label. The album showcases Gast's blend of icy tremolo-picked guitars, relentless blast beats, melancholic melodies, and grim vocal performances. While remaining faithful to traditional black metal aesthetics, the band incorporates a strong sense of atmosphere and melody, creating songs that are both aggressive and immersive.

Lyrically, Gast embraces themes that complement the mysterious and spectral meaning behind its name, favoring darkness, isolation, and haunting imagery over overtly political or controversial subjects. Their music emphasizes mood and emotional depth, reflecting the cold landscapes and introspective spirit often associated with Swedish black metal.

In 2024, original vocalist Johan Fröjd departed the band and was replaced by Kristoffer Karlsson, known for his work with Kollapsed. The lineup change marked a new chapter for Gast while preserving the band's original musical vision and commitment to atmospheric black metal.

With its experienced musicians, strong underground ethos, and dedication to the genre's darker traditions, Gast has established itself as a noteworthy presence in Sweden's contemporary black metal scene. Their combination of melody, aggression, and haunting atmosphere continues to appeal to listeners seeking authentic Scandinavian black metal with a modern edge.
