Hailing from Surabaya in East Java, Gerogot have been an ever-present force on the burgeoning Indonesian brutal death metal scene for more than a decade. The limited-edition demo, Promo 2014, was followed in 2016 by their debut album, Cruelty Vomit Of Hatred - a release which demonstrated in emphatic fashion Gerogot's unwavering commitment to absolute, unrelenting musical brutality. After contributing two suitably savage tracks to the grotesque and gore obsessed Heinous Interstellar Malformations split release with Virulent Excision, Facelift Deformation and Gravitational Distortion in 2020, Gerogot turned their attention to their second full-length album, which crawled from the body pile in 2021. Heading To Eternal saw Gerogot's unstoppable march towards the farthest reaches of sonic extremity continue unabated, with Metal Purgatory describing the album as one of the year's “sickest, most gut-wrenching and disgusting pieces of brutal death metal”. And now the journey into darkness begins again, as Gerogot prepare to unleash the ultimate expression of their flesh-dissolving, bone-breaking, soul-rending horror…Eidoloklas!
With 'The Barrier Collapses' wave after wave of pure destructive force is unleashed, grinding and crushing at furious velocities, with superb intricate guitar riffs rising up through the tumultuous onslaught. There's barely a moment to reflect on the damage done before a second strike of formidable power and intensity hits, 'Presage' delivering punishing blows between blinding blasts of speed. It's a breathless pattern that's maintained throughout Eidoloklas, tightly controlled attacks, precise and purposeful, landing in a whirlwind of violence. The vocals are an inhuman rumble of absolute hostility, emotionless and pitiless as they roar across the immense blasts and staggering riffs like lurching monstrosities and disfigured demons. The malicious strength is uniform throughout this litany of eradication, be it 'A New Dogma' where shocking intensity collapses into a screaming, squirming morass of sickness before unleashing a fresh barrage of unbelievable fire power, or the wild annihilation of 'Drowned In Fear' where vocalist Krisna Saptian seems gripped by an uncontrollable blood rapture. Each track seems harder, faster, more skull crushing than the last as Eidoloklas charges on, until right at the end where we slam into the monolithic presence of 'Will Come…' The frenzy dissipates, becoming a bleak and broken crawl through the ruins of the world, heavy with portents of a new order, built upon blood and destruction.

BIOGRAPHY/LOGO

Gerogot is a brutal death metal band from Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia, formed in 2013. The group emerged from the remains of Crematoria, a project that had been active since 2011, before adopting the Gerogot name two years later. The band's name is an Indonesian word meaning “gnaw”, an appropriately vicious moniker for their relentless and gore-drenched approach to brutal death metal.
At the core of Gerogot is guitarist and vocalist Aditya Prakoso, who has remained a central figure throughout the band's existence. Gerogot initially operated as a stripped-down project, with Prakoso handling guitars and vocals alongside drummer Zein Zaneck Abraham. Their first recorded material appeared with the independently released Promo 2014, a two-track demo showcasing the band's early take on crushing and uncompromising brutal death metal.
Gerogot developed their sound further during the following years, culminating in their debut full-length album, Cruelty Vomit of Hatred. Originally released in 2016, the album established the band firmly within Indonesia's prolific extreme metal underground. Combining dense guitar work, guttural vocals, relentless drumming and a distinctly old-school brutal death metal aesthetic, the record reflected the influence of the American brutal death metal tradition while retaining the raw character associated with the Indonesian scene.
The band's influences include several prominent names from the genre, particularly Deeds of Flesh, Disgorge and Defeated Sanity, while Indonesian acts such as Asphyxiate and Bloody Gore have also been cited as important influences. These foundations are evident in Gerogot's emphasis on technical yet punishing riffs, low guttural vocals and tightly constructed bursts of brutality.
Over the years the band's line-up expanded and changed considerably. Vocalist Krisna joined in 2017, followed by bassist Aminullah Ibrahim in 2018, helping establish a fuller permanent line-up around Prakoso. Gerogot continued releasing new material while becoming increasingly connected to the international brutal death metal underground.
In 2020 the band participated in the international four-way split Heinous Interstellar Malformations alongside Virulent Excision from the United States, Facelift Deformation from Hong Kong/Taiwan and Gravitational Distortion from Canada. Released through Brutal Mind, Gerogot contributed the tracks “The Sign Of...” and “Unpredictable”.
Their second full-length album, Heading to Eternal, followed in June 2021 through Brutal Mind. Recorded at Brutal Sick Alliance Production in Surabaya, the album delivered nine tracks of compact and aggressive brutal death metal and marked another significant step in the band's development. The record featured Aditya Prakoso on guitars and vocals, Krisna on vocals and Aminullah Ibrahim on bass, with Mr. Strange handling session drums.
Gerogot subsequently continued writing and releasing new material. “The Ancient Prophecy” appeared in 2023, followed by “Presage” in February 2025. The latter was released in association with the American extreme metal label Comatose Music, marking another step in the band's growing international presence.
With roots firmly planted in Indonesia's fertile death metal underground and influences drawn from some of brutal death metal's most uncompromising acts, Gerogot have developed into a persistent force within the Southeast Asian extreme metal scene. Their music remains focused on the fundamental ingredients of the genre: crushing riffs, guttural vocals, relentless percussion and an unwavering commitment to brutality.
